A veteran town manager from southern Maine will take the reins as executive director of Washington Hancock Community Agency (WHCA) June 4.WHCA's Board of Directors announced Tuesday that Mark Green had been selected for the post from a pool of 27 applicants.
"I think my first job is to just get up there and listen," Green said in an interview Tuesday.
Green has been town manager of Sanford since 2004. He has more than 30 years experience leading municipal government, having also served as town manager in York, Windham and Buckfield.
He is a past president of the Maine Municipal Association, a Big Brother Big Sister volunteer and has worked with community action programs through his role as a town administrator.
"I wanted to try something different but still related in some way," he explained.

Sanford recently had the largest number of foreclosures in the state. The city coordinated with three low-income housing groups to help secure neighborhood stabilization funding for projects to address the issue.
