The Washington Hancock Community Agency has the following openings:


we are searching for a part-time person to perform a variety of outdoor and indoor maintenance tasks at our offices in Ellsworth and at the Friendship Cottage building in Blue Hill. Examples of work include gardening and lawn maintenance along with minor building repair such as replacement of lightbulbs and painting. Hours are flexible and will vary by the season with a maximum of 20 hours weekly.

We are seeking full time and part time temporary LIHEAP Program Assistants to complete applications for Low Income Heating Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and respond to inquiries about LIHEAP. These are administrative positions. Positions located in Ellsworth, Milbridge, and Machias.

Qualifications: Detail oriented multi-tasker; ability to accurately enter data; strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; proficient in current Microsoft Office programs; excellent organizational skills.

Volunteer Poverty Program Coordinator

Are you a retired business executive or professional with a keen interest in poverty issues on the Blue Hill Peninsula?

The Community Compass Poverty Collaborative is seeking a part-time volunteer Program Coordinator to help forward our mission to bridge divides, break the cycle of poverty, and build community wide prosperity on the Blue Hill Peninsula.

If you are someone who is committed to increasing opportunities for all community members, and helping to coordinate new, innovative programs, this might be just the right volunteer opportunity for you.

The Community Compass is an established grassroots organization serving the 9 towns of the Blue Hill Peninsula with a robust, committed volunteer Steering Committee and operates under the fiscal sponsorship of Washington-Hancock Community Agency.

Friendship Cottage is an Adult Day Program in Blue Hill, Maine. WHCA is seeking to enlarge their Per Diem pool for CNA/CRMA.

The CNA/CRMA is responsible for the direct care of consumers receiving services. The position will be responsible for participating in the provision of a safe and secure environment and personal care assistance.

Qualifications:  Applicants for CNA/CRMA must be currently licensed. Prior nursing/assisted living facility experience preferred.  Must be able to work Saturdays on occasion, willing to transport consumers, have clean driving record, reliable transportation, and pass criminal background check.


We are seeking part-time drivers for Hancock and Washington counties. We provide transportation to low income, elderly and disadvantaged citizens as well as the general public. Our vehicles are easy to operate and require no special license, just a good driving record and a desire to provide safe and pleasant transportation to the people we serve. Flexible schedules available.

 Candidate must have clean driving record, pass criminal background check, and not have an active record on the System for Award Management (SAM) website.
