Caregiver Resource Center

at Friendship Cottage

The Caregiver Resource Center offers a meeting place, lounge, library and support services for caregivers. Eastern Area Agency on Aging staffs an office at the Caregiver Resource Center. Its Family Caregiver Resource program offers information, assistance, support, appropriate referrals, and sometimes just a friendly ear, to anyone who is providing unpaid assistance to a senior.

Caregiver Retreats

Friendship Cottage offers periodic retreats, usually one each quarter, for caregivers at no charge. The retreat begins in the morning with a welcome, refreshments and introductions, followed by a presentation. There is usually an interactive session with a group leader, such as a yoga instructor or message therapist. On-site respite is available, with advance notice. Call 207-374-5612.

Caregiver Support Group

The monthly Caregivers Support Group meets the first Friday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. At that meeting, there is typically a presentation on topics of interest to caregivers. New comers are welcome to attend.

Saavy Caregiver

The Maine Alzheimer's Association offers Savvy Caregiver Training at Friendship Cottage from time to time. Savvy Caregiver Training provides instruction for successful care giving of those with memory loss. The trainings are usually held on Wednesday afternoons from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required. For more information, contact Liz Weaver at 1-800-272-3900. To arrange on-site respite at Friendship Cottage call 207-374-5612.
