Farmers' Market Assessment
Down East Business Alliance
Down East Business Alliance has completed assessments of several farmers' markets in Washington and Hancock counties using an adaptation of the Rapid Market Assessment (RMA) model. This information is used to help markets increase their customer base and improve their overall performance.
We assessed customers and vendors to collect data on a variety of factors, such as the number and kind of shoppers, number and kind of vendors, customer spending patterns, range of products provided and other demographic data. During the RMA, we conducted interviews with shoppers to determine their general impressions of the market and solicit their suggestions for improvement as well as comments on what they like about the market.
The raw data we collect in Rapid Market Assessments was compiled and analyzed and is then used in providing technical assistance to farmers market managers' to help them make their markets more successful. To find out more about this program, contact Down East Business Alliance at (207) 610-5944.
