WHCA, Washington Hancock Community Agency

A message from Executive Director, Mark Green

Mark Green

WHCA's mission is to bring community resources together to help people in Washington and Hancock County achieve self-sufficiency and a better quality of life. We offer a variety of programs ranging from transportation assistance to elderly daycare to small business development. Just in the last year we have weatherized more than 150 homes; provided 170,000 rides to medical appointments, shopping and children's services; and, taught 40 entrepreneurs how to write business plans.

We are a dynamic agency that is always looking for new ways that we can help our communities. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you think we can help.

Staff at the Washington Hancock Community Agency are taking phone calls to schedule fuel assistance appointments for the Ellsworth, Milbridge, Machias and Calais offices.  Please click on House and Home (left) then Heating Assistance to find the forms you will need.

To schedule appointments, please call 664-2424 or 546-7544. Phone lines will be open between 8:00am to 3:45 pm Monday through Friday. Clients can also call the WHCA toll free number 1-800-828-7544, Monday through Friday 8:00 am to noon.

Please be patient as our call volume is very high at this time of the year.  Our staff work very hard to provide individual assistance to the each client they talk with.

For information and tips on resumes, interviewing, job searching and more check out this link.  There are also workshops in Bangor at the CareerCenter.  Click here for a list of workshops, times and dates.

Weather related closures:

None at this time.

In a time when my faith in people was very low, WHCA showed me I could trust them. This I will never forget, 'cause WHCA in my book is the best."
